As the world’s busiest single-runway airport, and the second largest in the UK, it’s no wonder that Gatwick has become a central base for one of Europe’s most successful and recognised airlines, easyJet, as well as a wide range of other key charter operations.
Recent statistics show that 40 % of people arriving at Gatwick are doing so via car; this, combined with its global status, would explain why millions of pounds have been invested in parking facilities on site and in the local area.

Parking in the airport
While there is no minimum stay in short-stay car parks, there is greater value for money when looking at Gatwick’s long-stay parking options. Located 5-10 minutes from the terminal entrances, there are regular shuttle buses into the site, you are able to keep hold of your keys, and the price comes to ₤ 20 for the first full day, and ₤ 15 for all subsequent days.

Summer Special Parking
This year at Gatwick’s North Terminal, from Easter through to October, Summer Special parking is being offered as a hassle-free, long-stay parking option. Your car will be parked for you at a site only 10 minutes from the Terminal entrance, money can be saved by pre-booking, and it is certainly the best value option should you be away for more than a few days at only ₤ 20 per day.
From here, you also have the option to go to the South Terminal on a shuttle bus, running every 15-20 minutes. In both cases, upon your return, your car will be delivered to you.
October– April Travellers
For those of you who may be travelling for 3 weeks or more between the months of October and April, you can also take advantage of the Winter Valet Special offer. At only ₤ 99 total, the staggering amount of money saved certainly acts as a reminder of the importance of planning ahead.

Off-Site Parking Options
If you’re not too fussed about parking away from the airport itself and having to commute in, then there are a number of external, private parking companies on offer only a short distance away.
Purple Parking (formerly Airparks) presents its offer of ₤ 5.50 per day or ₤ 43.99 per week. While its location is a 15-20 minute courtesy coach drive away, the website offers an honest breakdown of all prices on offer (including those of Gatwick Airport itself) and provides a range of other services. Meet & Greet, as one example, will collect your car from you at the airport and return it as you exit the terminal doors upon your return.
Irrespective of whether you decide to go with Purple Parking, the search engine option will certainly provide you with sufficient information around the multiple options available to you.
Most hotels will also offer their own parking options, but may lack the security offered by these areas dedicated to protecting your vehicle while you are away; make sure to check this with any hotels you may be staying in overnight, as well as their transfer options.
Our sharing economy friends at JustPark have hundreds of members in the vicinity of Gatwick airport offering parking spaces from as low as ₤ 4 a day. Check out their listings here.
